Human-Centric Coaching
Imagine having the time and space to think through a challenge that's been playing on your mind.
Or to reflect on your self - your thoughts, feelings, beliefs and behaviours - as a leader and a human.
Or to explore your place within a community, team or organisation, and your relationships with fellow humans. Now imagine being able to do all of this in partnership with someone who:- wholeheartedly supports you without judgement
- listens deeply to what you do or do not say, and reflects this back;
- offers powerful questions that both encourages and challenges you
- facilitates you gaining new insights and actions to move forward
- invites you to incorporate creative and playful approaches into your thinking process
- inspires you to enable yourself and those you serve to flourishThis is human-centric coaching.
What Coaching Style Is Used?
My default coaching style is to create a calm and supportive thinking environment that enables deeper introspection.
I also specialise in systemic coaching and often invite clients to gain greater awareness of the 'bigger picture' through playful experimentation, for instance by using Lego, drawing or coaching cards. That said, there are a great many approaches, tools, exercises and coaching 'stances' available and I will try my best to tailor these based on our relationship agreement and what I feel may work best for you in the moment. If you're curious about your 'self' - who you are and how you present yourself in various life roles or situations - check out this page to find out how I might be of use in enabling your 'self' exploration.
How Does Coaching Work?
Chemistry CheckLike with any good relationship, there needs to be chemistry between us for coaching to be effective. So first off, we'll arrange a 30 minute call to get to know one another, briefly cover off what coaching is and isn't, and give you the opportunity to share what led you to seek coaching.By the end of the conversation, we'll both have a sense of whether there's sufficient chemistry to go ahead with working together, as well as determine if I can be of use - if I'm not the right person, I'll signpost you to alternative coaches or other types of support services as appropriate.
Relationship AgreementOnce we agree to proceed with coaching, we'll schedule the first session and I'll provide you with a copy of our relationship agreement in advance. The agreement will contain a summary of your coaching goals, the number of sessions we'll have together, as well as a number of other considerations for you to reflect on.
Your responses to these can then be used to inform and customise how we might best utilise our time together and enable you to achieve your goals. We'll also spend a bit of time in the first session to review your answers and make sure we're on the same page.
Human-Centric CoachingIt's all about you. From the first session till our last, I'll be led by you in terms of the direction your thoughts go in, the topics we explore and any practical exercises you may wish to participate in.As your coach, I'll facilitate the process and hold the space as you think and feel your way through new questions or insights that may arise, keeping in mind your overarching goals whilst also being flexible to what emerges. We'll also pause every few sessions to reflect on whether our coaching relationship is still serving you well and how you're feeling about progress towards your goals. When our time together comes to an end, there will be an opportunity to look back on the journey you've made, celebrate progress and if useful, think about what your next steps may be.
How Much Does It Cost?
I believe good quality, human-centric coaching should be accessible for all, not just those in privileged positions. Therefore I use the following formula to make the price per session equitable and hopefully more affordable:
Your annual income, divided by 100, then divided by 5.For example, if you annual income is £30,000, divided by 100 = £300, divided by 5 = £60You're welcome to pay on a 'pay as you go' basis or if you prefer, for a number of sessions up front. And if your circumstances mean you would struggle to afford the price, please do still get in touch as we can have a conversation about what's feasible for you - better that than you miss out on coaching through no fault of your own!
